VanLUG Annual General Meeting 2015-2016

As you know our AGM is on May 25, and with it our election of a new Board of Directors. I'm writing today to inquire as to whether there are any members who would wish to join the VanLUG Board of Directors.

I realize there are many reasons for declining our invitation as there are people: family concerns, overwork, health issues, and so on. But I will ask anyway. VanLUG needs people, VanLUG needs each and every one of us.

It's an exiting time at VanLUG and a desperate time too. When I took over as President in February there were only eight paid members left on the rolls. We have been in decline for some time and need to rebuild the group. So we'll be conducting a membership drive. But LinuxFaire also presents us with an opportunity to move forward in new ways, to create community, synergy, momentum and awareness. I hope you'll want to be a part of that.

There are executive positions that are open. There are Directors positions that are open. Duties can be as light as you wish. For example, moving forward with LinuxFaire, we'd like to involve people from other local FLOSS groups to speak on their behalf with respect the development of LinuxFaire. It's not a big commitment, just attend a few meetings. Speak your mind. Help get things done. Of course you can do more too if you wish.

I hope you'll take a few minutes, and give this some consideration. We need you. If you get that, just get in touch with me before the AGM.
