How Linux is similar to BSD, and how Linux can help to learn and to use BSD

Our next general meeting will take place on Monday night, August 21, 2017, from 7:00-9:00pm, in Room HC-7000, at SFU Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings Street in Vancouver.

Our presenter will be John Weintraub, current Past-President and Treasurer of VanLUG. John is a network administrator and entrepreneur, well certified, and very knowledgeable about any number of operating systems.

He'll be sharing that expertise with us on Monday night. His presentation is entitled “How Linux and BSD are similar and how Linux helps in learning BSD”. What he has in mind is to compare the similarities between the file system hierarchies, the C-Shell and Bash and, then look at some of the things he did to get a web server and ftp server up and running on BSD. So a definite cross-over presentation.
