Bouncing back: Rebooting VanLUG: The General Meeting
Details
Welcome Techies! In these challenging times, your Linux Community bounces back with more exciting things in store. For this meeting, we are thankful for the generosity of the Kitsilano Public Library to host our first November 2022 General Meeting.
We have lots to talk about, and you may have seen a letter from our President, Bill M. in your inbox! We have planned activities for new Linux Users in 2023, as well as the continuation of our our Learning Series ... starting off with a presentation from John W, Vice President of VanLUG. John will be presenting "ufw", a frontend for iptables, and time permitting,(2) rsync for backup.
Uncomplicated Firewall (UFW) is a program for managing a netfilter firewall designed to be easy to use. It uses a command-line interface consisting of a small number of simple commands, and uses iptables for configuration.
rsync is a utility for efficiently transferring and synchronizing files between a computer and a storage drive and across networked computers by comparing the modification times and sizes of files. It is commonly found on Unix-like operating systems.
And, Join us this evening for a really exciting Vancouver-centric event that will be revealed during this meeting by our President, Bill M. See you in Kits! Tickets are limited (max of 30 attendees only. Sorry.)
