Room 1 : Beginners Talk: Introduction to GPG: Signing & Encryption
(GPG or GNU Privacy Guard, is a free-software replacement for Symantec's cryptographic software suite PGP and is compliant with the OpenPGP standard.)
Speaker: Alex Z, VanLUG Board Director.
Description:
This presentation is a practical introduction to GPG, covering how to sign and encrypt files and emails. The speaker will explain the basics of asymmetric and symmetric encryption, demonstrating how they work together through live demonstrations.
The session will cover:
- Generating and managing GPG keys.
- Digitally signing files for authentication and integrity.
- Encrypting files and text for confidentiality.
- Securing email communications.
This session will include practical demonstrations and helpful tips for using GPG effectively.

No prior knowledge of encryption is required, but familiarity with the command line helps follow along with the examples.

Room 2: Intermediate: Detailed talk about some specific topics for more advanced users.
Room 3: Support / Laptop Repairs and Installations : Have a problem, want an install? Get together with those who can assist, with a peer-to-peer support session.
