Details

Join us for our FREE monthly gathering that is not just a meeting --- it's a stepping stone to advancing your journey with Linux and Open Source Software. For this event, we feature practical application of OSS technology in an existing Industry.

Technical Speaker: Shinichi Hosomi, Ph.D. : Applied AI in Agriculture: Insights from Practical Implementations.
In this presentation, I will share insights from six years of experience developing and implementing AI systems in the agricultural field. My work involves building models to predict crop yields, diagnose plant health, and recommend actions to enhance productivity. I have also led collaborative projects with agricultural companies, learning effective methods to introduce AI to farmers and identifying key success factors for implementation. This talk will explore the real-world applications and limitations of AI in agriculture and present practical strategies for successful adoption.
Outcome: Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how AI can be applied to real-world challenges in agriculture—insights that can also inform AI adoption in other fields. They will learn effective strategies for integrating AI into practical operations, common pitfalls to avoid, and key success factors that apply not only to farming but to AI-driven projects in general.

Additional Speaker: Steve Lee, ReBoot Canada : Technology and the Recycling Economy
