Value Enablers: The Changing Role of QA

Speaker: Robert Reppel

With increasing emphasis on test- and behaviour-driven development and automation, the "traditional" role of QA is changing, and repetitive manual execution of test plans is increasingly replaced by tests written by developers as they shape the code. The opportunity for QA organizations lies in becoming enablers for business vision and value as QAs are in a unique position to bridge the gap between developers, product owners / business analysts and management.

In this presentation, we'll take a look at how doing this can enable businesses to deliver the right level of quality for the right product at the right time. We'll go through an example of a modern development lifecycle (event based systems, guided by behaviour centric automated tests, with appropriate use of test-driven development techniques to shape the application architecture) and explore the "decision points" where QA needs to be there to ensure optimal outcomes.
