Getting Real - Adventures in the Shift Left with Continuous Simulation

Sometimes getting really real is the only way to tackle substantial risk in a project. In other words, the complexity, scale and end-user expectations can require teams to be certain from the start, but this certainty can only be gained through actual experience with production -- real activity, real scale, continuously, against the complete stack. And yet, there is too much at risk to test in production.

This is where three completely different technology projects found themselves and decided to change their process and shift completely left, facilitating the introduction of a new tool – continuous dynamic field simulation.

We will talk a bit about the technology - bots, service virtualization, ai, and continuous simulation, and what happened when three different teams (one a social media CMS app, one in-vehicle and mobile device app, and one TV set top live-streaming ad system) used it as a part of their process. We will show what insight is possible when these systems are instrumented during simulation with limitless metrics for solutioning. And, we will demo a wearable app system for use during emergency events to show the capability of bots and simulation for end-to-end system testing at scale.

Speakers: Myrna Bittner and Dean Bittner

Co Founders of RUN-WithIT, helping IT product companies find real-world certainty through the creation of continuous simulations.

In 2016, its second year as a company, RUN-WithIT provided over 2.4 billion bot hours of end-to-end system testing for its clients. Some of the simulations send upwards of 31 billion data point metrics/year used to diagnose, rearchitect, experiment and validate systems before production.

While RUN-WithIT is relatively new to the scene, Myrna’s first tech startup in the early 90’s involved the creation of a real-time conferencing suite for the Internet. Myrna then mixed motherhood with business consulting for growth companies including everything from equine surgical facilities to franchise teams.
