Bhagavad Gita
Details
The Bhagavad Gita is one of the great spiritual books of the world. It presents a universal philosophy that shows us how to live a life of purpose, action, and happiness.
We have just started chapter 5 called The Yoga of Renunciation in Action. The chapter elucidates the stages of of renunciation, an essential prerequisite for practicing meditation and gaining realisation of one's real Self, Atman.
The Gita teaches that renunciation is not physical abandonment of duties or leaving the world behind. Instead, it defines it as performing one's obligatory duties while letting go of one's selfish attachment to the fruits or outcomes of one's actions. Join us to explore and discuss the concept together.
Each class is also self-contained, so you can join at any time you wish. It is okay if you missed previous sessions - no prior knowledge is necessary. We are following the edition of the Gita by A. Parthasarathy.
Course material will be provided initially until you obtain a copy for your own study. Please be in touch if you would like to acquire a copy from Vedanta Eternal.
The class will be led by Parulji, who has been researching and studying the Gita for over 3 decades under the guidance of Swami Parthasarathy, the founder of the Vedanta Academy in India. Her approach is to encourage questions and to welcome debate ā all within a framework of openness and camaraderie.
All the classes take place at 8:00 am UK time on Zoom - a time when the mind is clear and the working day has yet to begin. Anyone from anywhere in the world is welcome. We look forward to hearing from you.
šµ Fee: The sessions are by donation and the amount is at your discretion.
