🐾 Marching for the Animals: Together at Zürich’s Animal Rights March! 💚

Details

Let’s show up and march together for the biggest animal rights demonstration in Switzerland! 🐾

On Saturday, August 16, Zürich’s Helvetiaplatz will bloom into a sea of banners, beats, and bright-eyed changemakers as the Animal Rights March Switzerland makes its triumphant return after 2019, bringing together people who care about animals 🐮🐔🐷 and a compassionate future 💚.

What to Expect

This is a legally registered, peaceful demonstration to stand up for animal rights. The march has official permission from the city of Zürich, with a planned route and coordinated logistics 🗺️. It’s not a disruptive or confrontational protest. The atmosphere is calm, respectful, and welcoming to everyone 😊.

The marchers will gather at Helvetiaplatz and then walk through the city together 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️. The route loops back to the starting point. For further details on the demonstration (please note that I am not an organizer or responsible in any way for the march itself), visit 👉https://www.animalrightsmarch.ch/demonstration-2025/

👥 Our Meetup Plan

Going to an event like this on your own can feel intimidating and overwhelming 😬. It’s easy to feel unsure about where to stand, who to talk to, or whether you’ll end up alone in the crowd.

That’s why we’re going as a group! 💬💞 Sharing the experience of an event like this with others who are like-minded can be grounding, meaningful and genuinely enjoyable 🌱. Let’s go together in a supportive group of familiar faces to talk to, walk with, and share the energy of the day ✨.

To break the ice and settle in before the march, we’ll meet two hours in advance ⏰. The plan is to gather at Zürich HB and find a place for coffee or brunch together ☕🥐 (if there are enough people, I will reserve a place). Afterwards, we’ll head to Helvetiaplatz as a group. You’re also welcome to join us directly at the march meeting point (or even at the brunch spot), but please make sure to coordinate and arrive on time—finding each other in the crowd later can be difficult 🧭.

FAQ

Do I need to be vegan to join?

No. If you care about animals and believe they deserve compassion and protection, you’re welcome. This is a space for everyone—vegans, vegetarians, the plant-curious, and anyone asking questions about how we treat animals 🐾. Even if you're just curious, coming along can be a novel and enriching experience. It’s a chance to see what these kinds of demonstrations are really like, to hear what people around the world care about 🌍, and to reflect on where you stand.

Is this one of those disruptive protests?

No 🚫. The march is fully legal and registered with the city. It follows a planned route through Zürich and is peaceful, calm, and respectful.

No one is expected to shout, chant, or perform—simply showing up is already a meaningful statement. Based on your comfort, you can hold a sign 🪧, wear a message on your t-shirt 👕, or simply walk quietly among others. All of these contribute to the visibility and spirit of the event. This is a space for all kinds of people, including introverts, first-timers, and anyone who prefers to express solidarity in a calm, grounded way. 🤝

What if I come and realize it’s not for me?

That’s completely okay 💁. You’re welcome to join us just for coffee or brunch beforehand, and if you decide the march isn’t your thing, there’s no pressure to stay. If the crowd feels like too much, or it just doesn’t feel right in the moment, you can leave at any time—no judgment 💗.

I’m shy / quiet / not the activist type. Is this still for me?

Yes. You don’t need to be loud, extroverted, or used to activism to take part. Some people chant and carry signs, others prefer to walk quietly and take it all in. Just being there is already a meaningful act of solidarity. Come as you are.

You don’t need to fit into any box to join us for this. If you're curious, open, and feel some pull toward this kind of experience, come along 🌟. It can be meaningful, eye-opening, and even fun—especially when shared with others 👣💬. We’d be happy to have you with us 🧡.
