Exploring Marsha P. Johnson State Park + Vegan Dinner in Williamsburg

Details

JOIN US for a laid-back and fun gathering at the beautiful "Marsha P. Johnson State Park" in Williamsburg!
This park was formerly known as East River State Park. It was renamed on February 1, 2020, in honor of Marsha P. Johnson, a transgender woman of color and a trailblazer in the LGBTQI+ civil rights movement.
Marsha was a prominent figure in the Stonewall Uprising, and her legacy continues to inspire our community.

We’ll meet on Sunday, October 27, in front of the park’s main entrance at N 8th Street and Kent Avenue at 3:30 PM.
After waiting about 20 minutes for everyone to arrive, we’ll head deeper into the park to explore, enjoy its beach, and take in the stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.
After about 1-2 hours of exploring and connecting, we’ll decide together on a nearby vegan spot to grab a bite or have dinner. There are several great options just a few minutes away!

Feel free to bring a friend, relax, and enjoy the day with our Vegan Queer Tribe community. We can't wait to see you there!

Info about the park:
Marsha P. Johnson State Park is a seven-acre waterfront park located along the East River in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. It offers visitors a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline, a delightful play area, and the green space provides many opportunities for recreation and relaxation.
As the site of a 19th century shipping dock, visitors to East River may also discover unique historical remnants like old cobblestone streets and railroad tracks embedded in concrete. Historic interpretive signs are provided for your convenience. The park preserves and protects the many natural and historical resources along this beautiful city waterfront. The park is free and open to the public.

In addition to the great views of the East River and Manhattan, the park offers native meadow plantings among the historic rail yard remnants; passive recreation; picnicking and barbecues.
