Spring Kirtan - Music of Shakti & Bhakti

## Kirtan is a call-and-response style of devotional chanting originating in India and enjoyed by all in attendance. It's not passive listening, such as at a concert; it is an interactive experience where the attendees participate in the music. We will sing the name of God together, creating union through sound. The kirtan will include mantras, repeated words or phrases, sung as a prayer to protect the mind and open the heart. We will end with a guided meditation.

Who is Shakti & Bhakti?
Shakti and Bhakti are the first kirtan band in the Dayton area, founded in 2020. The members include:

• Riley Slate is the music director, keyboardist, and vocalist.
• Ranjani Powers, lead vocals.
• Linda Conway, bongo drums, backup vocals
• Kali Macklin percussion and backup vocals
• Mason Peacock percussion and backup vocals
• Lisa Neff backup vocals
• Joel Gillespie backup vocals
• Alex Cain bass drum

* Chairs will be available, or bring a cushion to sit on the floor if you like.
