Welcome Canasta enthusiasts far and wide.
Our Motto: Good friends, good laughs, and good times. :-)
We are a fun group of dedicated down to earth Canasta-loving people, both men and women, singles and couples, of all ages and backgrounds, who gather one Friday night a month to play Canasta in the southwest. We begin at 6pm and usually end between 9-10 pm. All skill levels are welcome.
Canasta is generally an easy-to-learn card game, especially if you are familiar with games like Rummy or Bridge. It is played with tables of 4. While the core rules are simple, there are strategic aspects to consider, such as, natural and dirty canastas, maximizing melds, strategically taking the discard pile and making lots of points. You must have 10 canastas to go out which includes a wild card canasta and a 7s canasta.
There is no entry fee to play however we ask that everyone bring food to share (no chips and dips please).
We gather at members' homes so for security reasons it is important to have a current picture of yourself on your Meetup profile that clearly shows your face. Your membership will be accepted if you answer all of the questions about yourself which are for the organizer's eyes only. Full names and phone number is required.
