Monthly meetup for the Vegas Stoics group. This month's discussion will focus on the following passage:

"It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, who is poor. What does it matter how much you have laid up in your storerooms, how much you have in your bank account, how much you invest? You are still poor if you crave more." -Seneca, Letters to Lucilius (Letter 18)

Questions for discussion:

  • What's one area of your life where you've noticed the difference between 'having enough' and 'wanting more'? How did that awareness change your behavior?
  • Can you think of a time when getting something you really wanted didn't bring the satisfaction you expected? How did this experience feel?
  • Is there a difference between wanting something and craving something? Where's the line?
