Join the Sundays at 10 Hiking Series for a hike in the cool Spring Mountains perfect for the advanced beginner. This hike is fairly easy, with enough incline that adds just the right amount of challenge.

The trail head is on Kyle Canyon but we will meet at the Mt. Charleston Visitor Center and carpool from there.

We will start at an elevation of around 6900' making it at least 15° cooler. The hike is just under 3 miles with a total elevation gain of 426'.

We will start our hike with a sharp incline, reaching 188' elevation gain in the first half mile. The rest of the hike will be gradual elevation changes.

Terrain & Scenery: This is typical mountain dirt trail with some loose gravel. Due to the steep incline in the beginning. hiking poles may be helpful. Although the temperature will be cooler. this trail has limited shade. If we are lucky, we will get a fresh mountain breeze.

Parking: There is a small parking area at the trailhead that can be busy. We will carpool from the Mt. Charleston Visitor Center.

Directions: The Mt Charleston Visitor Center (The Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway) is located at 2525 Kyle Canyon Rd.
