Sawmill Trail - Advanced Beginner/ Intermediate Hike
Details
Join the Sundays at 10 Hiking Series on Lee Canyon Rd as we follow the Sawmill Trail through the Spring Mountains. This is a great hike for advanced beginners to build cardio.
We will start at an elevation of around 7504' making it at least 15° cooler. The hike is about 3.2 miles with a total elevation gain of just under 500'.
We start at the Sawmill Trailhead at a nice and steady climb to the ridgeline for the first 1.2 miles, gaining 294'. We will follow the ridgeline, taking our time to appreciate the views. The next mile we start our descent. The last mile is our second climb of just under 200'.
Terrain & Scenery: This is a typical hiking trail with dirt and some loose gravel. Hiking poles may be helpful, especially on the downhill. The trail is wide enough to not get bit by the brush, so shorts will be ok. There is plenty of shady stretches with patches of sun.
Trail Type: Loop
Parking: There is a large parking lot at the trailhead. There are vault bathrooms.
Directions: If you put Sawmill Trailhead in your navi, you should find us.
Driving Directions: #1 - Follow Kyle Canyon Rd. Make a right on Deer Creek Rd, then a right on Lee Canyon Rd. The trailhead is 1 mile on the keft. There is a sign.

This is a group hike led at a social pace to encourage conversation, connection, and meeting new people while enjoying the outdoors. We'll take breaks as needed, stay together as a group, and focus on having a fun, welcoming experience rather than hiking for speed.
