Escarpment Trail - Advanced Beginner / Intermediate Hike
Details
Join the Sundays at 10 Hiking Series as we revisit the Escarpment Trail. This is a great hike for our Advanced Beginners and Intermediate hikers. The trailhead is behind the visitors center.
This hike starts at an elevation of 6000' making it at least 10° cooler. The hike is approximately 3.7 miles with a total elevation gain of 699'.
Escarpment Trail: We will descend down into the wash, then pick up the Escarpment Trail and begin our ascent up to the ridgeline. The first part is a steep incline on a paved path. We will reach the ridgeline around 1.5 miles. We will hike along the ridgeline, reaching the highest elevation of 619' at 2.5 miles. From there we circle down and around back into the wash. The last 80' elevation gain finishes the hike as we climb back up to the parking lot.
Terrain & Scenery: This is a typical hiking trail with dirt and loose gravel. We will be hiking through the trees with amazing views of the Spring Mountains. There are benches along the trail and plenty of photo ops.
Trail Type: Loop
Parking: There is a large parking lot at the visitor center. There are bathrooms.
Directions: If you put "Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway" in your navi, you will find us. I will be waiting by the bathrooms at the Visitor Center.
The address is 2525 Kyle Canyon Rd.
This is a group hike led at a social pace to encourage conversation, connection, and meeting new people while enjoying the outdoors. We'll take breaks as needed, stay together as a group, and focus on having a fun, welcoming experience rather than hiking for speed. Whether it's your first time joining the Sundays at 10 Hiking Series or you're a regular, everyone is welcome.
