Details
When you RSVP, please answer the question: Are you willing to drive and how many seatbelts are in your car? It is all paved road, 350 miles RT, gas money provided.
Please read the entire description. New participants will be required to sign a Waiver similar to the Disclaimer below. Carpooling (4 to a car) is mandatory; each rider must pay $20 to their driver for gas.
This 4th annual hike is somewhat similar to the Virgin Narrows in Zion but the water is not as deep and it's much less crowded. We will hike Ashdown Creek out and back, and there will be numerous water crossings and actually hiking in the creek in certain sections so your feet will get wet and stay wet. The water will be fairly cold.
Old boots or closed toe water shoes are best. A wood hiking pole or trekking pole(s) with rubber tip are recommended. Neoprene socks are optional. It is mostly class 1 hiking with some class 2 scrambling.
Bring a towel and extra footwear to change into after the hike!
DISTANCE: 9 miles out and back
ELEVATION GAIN: 1,200 feet
DIFFICULTY: Strenuous
PACE: Moderate
TIME: 12 hours (includes driving and a stop to eat on the way back)
We will meet on the third floor section 3E of the Cannery parking garage (not Eastside Cannery).
