Calico Scramble, West Slope

This interesting loop route involves loads of challenging scrambling up to Class 4 and considerable EXPOSURE. From the 1st pullout, we'll ascend a novel route past the Cactus Massacre Wall to the Calico ridge, traverse it a short distance northward, then descend through the Aquifer/Tuna and Chips area.

We'll take advantage of a western trailhead to maximize shade and make the route shorter/more efficient. This route is 90% in shade!

Expect 2 1/2-3 hours. Pace slow-moderate. About 1.25 miles roundtrip with 560' of vertical gain.

Must be a skilled scrambler with no fear of heights. A great chance to sharpen climbing skills as this route has it all!
