Communication around preparations, meetup location, carpooling, and lodging or camping arrangements will be handled privately through Liz & Paul in person, via text and/or email.

This trip will be limited in size, and everyone must participate in the summer Charleston training series hosted by Liz in June, July, and August to demonstrate their ability to safely complete Humphreys Peak.

TRIP DETAILS:
📌This is a 3-day trip to Arizona. We'll be hiking to Humphreys Peak - the highest point in the Kachina Peaks Wilderness, as well as the highest point in the state of Arizona. It has one of the most scenic viewpoints in the San Francisco Peaks, and on a clear day, hikers can see the Grand Canyon from the summit.

HIKE QUICK STATS:

  • Distance: ≈10 miles (out & back)
  • Elevation: 12,635 ft
  • Elevation gain: ≈3,800 ft
  • Class: 1
  • Exposure: None
  • Difficulty: Extremely strenuous at high altitude
  • Pace: Moderate-to-fast w/ limited breaks
  • Duration: 6-8 hrs

ACCOMMODATION SUGGESTIONS:
Paul secured an Airbnb; if you're interested in those details, please speak with one of us directly. Otherwise, you'll need to secure your own lodging.

GEAR:

  • Hiking boots or trail shoes are required
  • Trekking poles are optional but highly recommended
  • 2-3L of water, sun protection, snacks & electrolytes
  • Carry rain gear, a windbreaker, warm gloves, a warm hat, and a cover for your pack
