Welcome to the final hike of the annual Summer Charleston Series
These hikes have been progressively harder each week in mileage, elevation gain & altitude designed to train up for long-distance high-altitude hikes. Together, we have learned the many tips & practices around pace, breathing, gear, food/liquid, trail etiquette, and preparations.

A secondary benefit has been that carpooling, hiking & tailgating with many of the same people each week enabled us to develop friendships & trust in each other which was needed as these hikes got harder.

To date, 170 hikers have used this training series to reach Charleston Peak for the first time - will your name be added to the list this year? A pin is available for those who participate in the series & reach the summit of Charleston Peak.

By now, you know the routine & expectations: this is the final push! Eat a good breakfast, stay hydrated during the week, avoid strenuous leg work the day before, & bring a rested body & positive mindset!

📌 Starting at South Loop Trail, we hike to the Griffith Saddle, turn right, trek through the Burn Area and hike all the way to Charleston Peak, the highest point in southern Nevada! This is a very long hike at high altitude and the culmination of our training over the last nine weeks.

This group will start earlier and hike slower than Liz and Paul's group. Both groups will join somewhere along the way and then Jim plans to turn around and go back down so you may join this hike even if you don't plan on going all the way to the peak. Seeing the Burn Area in person is worth the effort.
