📌 This new route goes up the Lower Bristlecone Trail to a junction with the Bonanza Trail, continues up several switchbacks to a saddle at the ridgeline, and proceeds north. This portion of the Bonanza Trail has breathtaking views of McFarland Peak in one direction and Charleston Peak in the other.
We will then descend on a different seldom used ridgeline to the South Sister Saddle with views of the Mack's, Sister's and Mummy peaks; and continue down a short steep section to a very peaceful and gentle trail in the woods. From there, we walk through the Old Mill picnic area where we will have one or more cars staged to shuttle drivers to retrieve their vehicles from Lower Bristlecone TH.
