Epic Trip Lake Tahoe!
Details
[SOLD OUT!]
Get ready! July of 2026, VegasHikers will escape the Southern Nevada heat and go on an adventure to South Lake Tahoe! Like all Epic Trips, this one sold out right away. Seats were gone withing 30 minutes, just like last year.
[THIS TRIP IS SOLD OUT! Please contact me if you want to purchase a seat.]
For this trip, we will be staying at Camp Richardson, which is right on the shore of Lake Tahoe. I have reserved a cluster of large campsites, so we'll have plenty of room to spread out. I'm also limiting the number of seats for sale on the bus, so we have room to spread out there, too; and we can pack for comfort.
While we're in Tahoe, we can look forward to phenomenal hiking, a relaxing time at camp, and easy access to the lake.
Here's the plan:
Depart Las Vegas from the Centennial Park and Ride at 6:30 AM and head north. Be sure to show up early, so we can get the bus loaded and head out on time. Our first stop is at Eddie World in Beatty for food and other supplies, then it's off to Tonopah, where we'll visit the Historic Mining Park.
Next, we'll head north again and visit Walker River State Recreation Area to stretch our legs and check out the river. Finally, it's on to our final destination: Camp Richardson.
The campground has showers and flush toilets, and is walking distance from the shore of Lake Tahoe. There is also a small store and an ice cream shop a short walk from camp.
The first night we'll have a potluck dinner. Bring something to share with your fellow hikers. The potluck dinners are always fantastic.
Monday and Tuesday we'll schedule multiple hikes to multiple places, using the bus to get us to the trailheads. There will be hikes for a variety of ability levels and interests, or you can hang out at camp, rent a bike, go horseback riding right from Camp Richardson, and more! Tahoe has it all!
Monday and Tuesday nights, we'll use the bus to go to dinner in South Lake Tahoe, for those who are so inclined. Tuesday morning, Andre will be cooking MADE-TO-ORDER OMELETS! He did this last year, and it was a big hit!
Finally, on Wednesday, we'll load the bus one last time and head back to Las Vegas. On the way home, we'll stop over at Rhyolite, just outside Beatty, and visit the Goldwell Open Air Museum. It's a fascinating place.
I expect us to return to Vegas around 7:30 PM on Wednesday.
Your $360 pays for the bus, the campsite, and admission to all parks. You'll need to bring a small amount of additional cash with you to chip in for firewood (like $5), and a little more cash to chip in for the bus driver's tip (like $40).
Other Notes:
I won't piece out this trip. Your payment gets you a spot on the bus for your butt and your gear, admission to the parks, and a spot at the campsites for your tent; all sold as a package.
Your camping needs are your own responsibility. We will not be providing food or drink, nor any camping supplies. If you need a tent or a sleeping bag, you may be able to borrow one from another member. Sharing is caring!
There are no refunds for this trip unless it is canceled, which has happened once, due to COVID. I have no intention of canceling this year's trip. Once you buy your seat, it's yours. You are welcome to sell your spot to someone else, just let me know if you do.
No children, no dogs.
If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me an email.
See you on the bus!
