This time of the year there is usually a long line and up to a hour wait to enter the park via the main entrance. Please consider entering from the lake shore drive side of the park, or leave plenty early to allow for delays.

Camping, hiking and Pot Luck! Feel free to bring food to share Thursday and/or Friday for the pot luck. Actually people tend to bring and share things almost continually potluck or not.

Feel free to come out for a few hours or for 1, 2, 3 or 4 of the nights. Come back and forth depending on your work schedule. It is only an hour drive.

There will be plenty of hiking and exploring. We will also organize some hikes for the rangers for their first day January 1st) hiking program. Watch for those posts as the date approaches. They will be posted separately.

Group site 3 is reserved and we can have up to 45 people at the site and 14 cars, but we can probably squeeze a couple extra cars without getting into trouble. There is overflow parking for campers or rvs but no hookups

Year-round camping is one of the best things about living in the the Southwest. During the fall through spring months, you will fall in love with Valley of Fire.

We will be camping and hiking all weekend long. All of our events are Leave no Trace events. This simply means that we clean up after ourselves and others on the trails... we leave only footprints and take only memories and pictures.

The colors and formations at Valley of Fire are out of this world.

Hiking- We are hiking daily but right now everything is informal and people will tend to go off amongst themselves or in small groups. On the first we as mentioned above, we will do multiple hikes for the VofF and most will be posted on meetup as the date approaches.

Campfire activities- S'mores, cooking, stories, socializing, drinking, laughter and if you play an instrument bring it. Please bring firewood as we will need a lot for 4 cold nights.

Potluck- THursday and/or Friday night.
Please bring something to cook, or something pre-made and share amongst friends. We tend to always have food around and share all the time.

Bring- Lots and lots of Firewood as it will be cold. Bring as much as you can carry. We will need a big fire all three nights. Smiths sometimes has firewood for sale $5.00 per bundle, sleeping pads, sleeping bag, tents, coolers, food, drinks, camp chairs, headlamp, day pack for hiking, camera, snacks, Warm clothes, tent heater, hand warmers, and all other camping essentials...

Camping cost- The Nevada resident park entry fee of $10.00 per car. Camping at the park is $20.00 per night per vehicle ($10.00 to camp plus $10.00 entry fee), carpool to save on the overall cost. This means if you camp for two nights your complete cost for park entry and camping will be $40.00 per vehicle. There is also Annual State park pass available at the visitor center. It covers entry fees into all Nevada state parks. This is good for the entire year and costs $75.00. There is also another annual pass for all Nevada state parks that covers all entrance fees, camping fees and boating fees and is $250.00.

Facilities- There are picnic shelters, running water, Charcoal grills, and pit toilets at the campsite. Hot showers available at Atlatl campground 1 mile away.

Pets- Well mannered leashed pets are welcome. Clean up after your pets please.

Directions- Take I-15 N. to exit 75 and go right. You will see signs that say Valley of Fire. Take the paved road 18 miles to the park entrance. Go a a mile or so, you will see a sign pointing RIGHT for Group Camping & Beehives. Turn right, go through the gate, CLOSE the gate, group site 1 is the first site on your right.
