📌 This hike is highlighted by a breathtaking view of Lake Mead from the summit; and petrified wood and gypsum laced rocks on the return route. This is mostly class 1 trail hiking with a small amount of class 2 and 3 limestone scrambling, plus some minor exposure near the summit.

Trailhead: Northshore Road
Distance: 7.0 miles
Summit: 3,300 feet
Elevation Gain: 1,400 feet
Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous
Class: Class 1 trail with a few spots of easy class 2 and 3 scrambling
Exposure: Minor
Pace: Moderate
Duration: 6.5 hours includes hiking, driving and tailgating
Gear: Hiking boots or trail shoes recommended; trekking poles & gloves optional
Tailgate: After hike potluck; informal social gathering with food and drink; bring a camp chair. A link for the signup sheet is provided in the Comments below. All participants are expected to stay and socialize at the tailgate after the hike. If you have to be back before 2:00pm, do not sign up for the hike!
No pets or children. You must be on the Going list to attend.
All attendees must be members of VegasHikers. It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up & it's FREE.
Carpool Locations
Leaving at 7:30am: 6885 E Lake Mead Blvd, park between CVS and Albertson's alongside E Lake Mead Blvd at Hollywood Blvd.
Leaving at 7:50am: Northshore Rd, Mile Post 4 for Henderson and Boulder City residents. If meeting here, please indicate when you RSVP. If you don't know where this is or how to get there, please meet at Albertson's/CVS.
If you have a National Park Pass, please bring it along with photo ID.
This hike is in the Lake Mead wilderness area with a group size limit of 12. Priority will be given to those who have participated on any of my previous Charleston, Red Rock or Lake Mead hikes regardless of your order on the Wait List.
