Pahrump primitive Camping- optional Hot Air Balloon Rally, Hot Spring Soak, Hike
Details
Come out and do something a little different for Valentines Weekend.
We have plenty of options this Valentines weekend. Hiking around the area, Hot Air Ballon Festival, Farmers Market and a short drive away to Death Valley Hot Springs. This is a camping trip that is only 1 hour from Las Vegas. We will be camping on 5 acres of rural land I purchased in Pahrump a few years ago.
You can come out anytime Friday or Saturday. You can hang for the day and or camp too. The address is 1470 N Freedon Raod Pahrump NV
Jen is planning on being at the Farmers Market near the Tractor Supply store at 9:00am if any of you want to meet her there.
If any of you want to go to the Hot Springs bring a towel and swim wear. We can go to the hot springs in Tecopa for a soak during the day Saturday if you all want to. It’s $30 for a day pass to soak.
February 13th-15th is the Pahrump Valley Hot Air Rally. It’s at Petrack Park and features morning hot air balloon launches and evening glow events, tethered rides, live music and vendors. There is free admission.
A couple of important things to know. I do not currently have water or power out there so you will need to bring water for drinks, dishes and cooking. There are no picnic tables so bring your chairs and all other camping necessities.
You will have to drive off a paved road and onto a desert unmaintained road to get there. It’s bumpy for about 1/4 mile to the property, but would be fine for most any car that has standard suspension if you go slow.
Even more importantly there is no bathroom. You will have a couple of choices which is bring your own which you can order on Amazon or get at any outdoor store. I have a camping toilet with bags and a shelter around it (you are responsible to dispose of your own bags at home). You can number 1 in the desert, or for number 2 drive 6 miles to one of the many stores such as Smith’s, fast food restaurants or Walmart, they are all within 6 miles of the property.
The property is backed up to BLM land and there are hills and mountains to hike on right where we will be camping. People often ride quads and such in the area as well if you are into that.
You can bring cars, small to medium campers, tents or whatever you like.
I highly recommend trying to get out there before dark but I will have my cell phone on if you need me to meet you at the end of the nearest driveway, you can follow me to the property from there. Feel free to call or text anytime this is my cell 702-591-9270.
Campfires- We can have a campfire and have a fire ring. There are some dead mesquite shrubs and trees out there we can burn but I will bring some firewood as well.
Potluck- Bring or cook something to share for Saturday evening.
Pets- Well mannered pets are always allowed just make sure and clean up after them please.
Directions- 1470 N Freedom road Pahrump NV. Turn left right past the Walmart on Basin road, take basin road a few miles until you hit Corbin, turn right on Corbin and drive until the paved road turns into a gravel driveway, take that driveway until you reach the gate. Turn right onto the dirt road and go about 200’9I will put some bright orange ribbons on the bushes to mark the road from here), the road will veer left and in about 200 yards you will be at the property. It has a shipping container on it and fence poles but no fence. (The address is 1470 N Freedom road. The GPS will not take you the best way and will try and take you through the desert.)
