Gunsight Ridge

This hike is on Super Bowl Sunday, but we should finish 3-4 hours before the 3:30pm game time.

📌 This up and back hike ascends a ridge overlooking West Summerlin homes and a golf course to the east and a private Rifle Club to the west (hence, the name Gunsight Ridge). It is all trail; but rocky or loose in places so trekking poles are useful.

Trailhead: W Charleston Blvd (between Water Detention Basin & Gun Range)
Distance: 2.6 miles RT
Elevation gain: 500 feet
Elevation of peak: 3,700 feet
Difficulty: 2, moderately strenuous
Class: 1 and some 2
Exposure: none
Pace: slow to moderate
Time: 1.5 hours

Gear:
hiking boots or trail shoes are recommended; trekking poles are recommended but not required; gloves are optional

The trailhead is in the construction zone for the new Legacy Trail so doing this hike on a Sunday (non-working day) is the only day that makes sense. We'll carpool to minimize the number of vehicles.

We will meet in the Vista Commons parking lot, 11710 W Charleston Blvd, halfway between Albertson's and Dunkin' Donuts. Look for a red SUV. We'll form a carpool or carpools and leave at 10:00am so arrive 5-10 minutes early.
