Lava Butte - VH
Details
This is a short hike to an under-appreciated peak in the Lake Mead area, east of the Frenchman Mountain. You see this non-descript mountain in prominence, north of Lake Mead Blvd, while on your way to Bowl of Fire, Anniversary Narrows and other popular areas.
I recently went off-roading there the Lava Butte Trail and decided it was good time to explore this mountain. It is very short hike, about 1.6 miles, round trip. I will be replacing a worn-out flag at the top.

Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader and in front of the sweeper.
Rock Fall
This is one of the greatest dangers we face. Don’t unnecessarily cause any extra rock fall and be certain to alert hikers behind you, should a rock accidentally start to fall their way.
Group Hiking
Stay with the group behind the leader. If you don’t want to stay with us, you can always go hiking on your own, though it’s not recommended. Don’t run ahead. If you start to get too far behind, shout ahead before you’re out of range for someone to hear you. I always endeavor to keep track of everyone’s progress, but ultimately, it’s your responsibility to communicate what you need.
Wear good hiking shoes. Approach shoes not needed. and helmet recommended for this hike. Bring minimum of 2lt of water and always carry electrolytes (coconut water, Gatorade, energy chews), salt tablets, energy food and snacks. Always carry first aid kit and emergency contacts (easy to access) and an extra battery pack. You must have done other peaks prior to joining this one. If I have not hiked with you, please message me your previous scrambling experience.
