HIKE DESCRIPTION

This is one of the most popular hikes in Red Rock. There's a couple of tough spots, but nothing that can't be overcome. The hike starts out with an uphill climb that always gets me winded. From that point on, though, it's just a lot of fun with a couple of scrambling opportunities. It's a good hike for beginners, but you must be in shape enough to make it up the first climb.

The first climb is somewhat difficult climb that begins this hike. It gains about 500-600 feet of elevation in a short distance. You may need to stop a few times along the way to catch your breath. Don't worry, though, we'll all meet up again at the top and it's all fun and games from there.

There are some nice views along this trail. It's one of the few places that you can see four distinct colors of rocks in one place. I've seen bighorn sheep and foxes in this area, and I'm always hopeful that we'll see more. You can look at my wildlife gallery for some of my favorite pictures of animals I've seen.

This is a good beginner scramble, but don't underestimate it. You must be able to keep up with the group. If you can't keep up on the first hill, you will have to turn back.

• Helmets are always welcome. Be sure to use one that doesn't block your sight.

• Always carry "in case of emergency" numbers with you.

• No guests will be allowed without my prior approval.

YOU MUST BE ON THE "GOING" LIST IN ORDER TO GO ON THIS HIKE. CRASHING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
