HIKE DESCRIPTION
This hike extends the very popular Kraft Mountain Loop hike by about 2 miles. It also adds over 400 feet of elevation gain and includes some class 3 scrambling and boulders. There are numerous routes up Ash Canyon so it's a lot of fun to climb. There's a small valley between the top of the canyon and the trail now known as "rattlesnake." From there it's a hike down the wash to link up with the rest of the Kraft Mt. Loop.
I always enjoy the views on the Kraft Loop and they're even better from the top of Ash Canyon. In addition to the views of the valley, the different colors and patterns on the rocks are some of the most impressive of the entire Red Rock NCA. As always, we'll keep an eye out for any critters that might be of interest. I've been lucky enough to see snakes and sheep on these trails. Take a look at my wildlife gallery for some of my favorite pictures of animals I've seen in the Park.
• Helmets are always welcome. Be sure to use one that doesn't block your sight.
• Always carry "in case of emergency" numbers with you.
• No guests will be allowed without my prior approval.
YOU MUST BE ON THE "GOING" LIST IN ORDER TO GO ON THIS HIKE. CRASHING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
