Starting at Wildhorse Trail, we'll hike into one of Mt. Charleston’s wonderfully weird forests of ancient, wind-twisted Bristlecone Pines.

Before reaching Raintree, we’ll make a sharp left & head toward Fletcher Peak, where the mountain introduces us to three false summits—because apparently one round of false hope wasn’t enough.😉

Eventually, Fletcher quits messing with us. The final push gets properly steep before delivering us to the summit & some seriously worthwhile views.

Ancient trees. Three fake-outs. One actual summit. Seems like a perfectly reasonable way to spend the morning.

• Trailhead: Wildhorse Canyon
• Distance: 7.5 miles
• Summit: 10,319 ft
• Elevation Gain: 2,100 ft
• Altitude: between 8,420 – 10,319 ft
• Difficulty: strenuous
• Class: all Class 1 trail
• Exposure: none
• Pace: steady ⁞ conversational
• Duration: 6 hours (includes driving & hiking)

🎒GEAR:

• Hiking boots or trail shoes are required
• Trekking poles are optional but very helpful
• 2-3L of water, sun protection, snacks & electrolytes
• Carry a windbreaker, warm gloves, and hat when hiking in the Mt Charleston area

🔆OTHER:

• No guests, children/minors, canines, or event crashers, please!
• Must be a VegasHikers member & on the Going list to attend.

🚙MEETUP/CARPOOL LOCATION:
Meet in Santa Fe Casino East parking garage, 3rd floor, turn RIGHT, then right again, go halfway back, Section 3C. We'll carpool to the trailhead. Please contribute toward your driver's fuel costs.
