Even though Sunrise mtn. is over 3 miles far from Frenchman Mtn. many people in the Las Vegas area refer to Frenchman Mtn. as Sunrise Mountain since the sun rises from behind it. Frenchman Mtn. is the highest Peak that is on the South of Lake Mead Blvd. and there are antenna tower on the top. Sunrise Mtn. is the lower peak on the North of Lake Mead Blvd. It stand on the east side of Nellis AFB.

The hike starts same trail head as Frenchman Mtn. but goes opposite way. There is no trail to the Sunrise Mtn. We hike on the dry wash, scree slope and rugged ridge line to the peak. Its a short, but fun scrambling hike. You can see Lake Mead, Nellis AFB, Las Vegas City, Red Rock Canyon,
Mt.Charleston and Sheep Range from the peak.

I will take a defferent way on the way down to make a loop. Actually, this descent route is safer than the ascent route. Most of the scramble part is class 2 and few class 3. This hike is good for intermediate class hiker.
Bring lots of water, food/snacks, cap/hat, sunglass, sunscreen, rain gear, light Jacket and gloves.
Let's meet at Albertson's Parking Lot @ South East corner of Hollywood & Lake Mead Blvd. at 10:00AM.
No Kids, No Dogs, No fear of height hikers please!
If you want to bring a guest, please let me know your guests hiking ability or I won't allow them. (for their safety is the reason)
