What we’re about
Vegas Hiking Funventures
It all began one lovely day in the summer of 2014. I was leading a Las Vegas hiking group of friends up to the 3,000-year-old bristlecone pine tree called the Raintree on Mt. Charleston. One of my friends suggested we should start a new Las Vegas hiking group for hiking and exploring the outdoors surrounding the area of Las Vegas, perhaps even include some social activities.
We decided that we prefer intermediate hiking events -- not too easy or hard-core -- and even open to all day and weekend trips. Any member will be able to suggest hikes, outdoor activities and trips. Those responsible enough will be able to organize and lead a hiking group event.
Since that humble beginning, our Las Vegas hiking group has evolved to also include kayaking. Additionally, we have expanded our reach to include day trips outside the area of Las Vegas in Nevada, Utah, Arizona and California. Occasionally, multi-day weekend trips are included.
This is how our little humble Las Vegas hiking group came to be Vegas Hiking Funventures, continuing to grow to over 5 thousand members today.
Safety will always be our first priority, and then Fun will follow. We maintain a moderate pace focused on what's comfortable for each member. Nobody is ever left behind. There is always enough time for potty breaks, photos, rest stops, snacks, lunch, and be able to enjoy the scenery.
Everyone welcome willing to comply with safety policies; no cliques!
Members will be removed after 2 no-shows, for a single act of irresponsible behavior that endangers the safety or wellbeing of the group, for disrespecting members, or for noncompliance with safety policies/rules. Guests are not allowed for safety reasons.
