What we're about

Dear Friends,

The New Orleans Vegetarian Meetup group will meet at least once a month to enjoy a vegetarian meal either at a restaurant, an outdoor venue, or a member's home. The group will promote the health and ethical benefits of a vegetarian life-style and host an annual New Orleans Veggie Fest.

I have been making scrumptious biscuits for my dogs in the shapes of crowns, fleur de lis, crawfish, etc. and they love them! Environmental Update - from the Humane Society of Louisiana
Needs a date and time

Humane Society of Louisiana

Dear All, I'm delighted to see that so many of you have RSVP'd to attend our upcoming social at Seed this Monday, December 21st, from 5-7 pm. We'll be getting into the holiday spirit by enjoying drink specials, complimentary hor d'oeuvers and presenting our "Vegan Pioneer" Awards to four of our members: Edgar Cooper, Jehan Strouse, Melissa Bastian and Leah Duncan. Each one has made a significant contribution to our vegan community, and we would like to take a minute to publicly and acknowledge thank them. Also, if you are interested in some local environmental news, you might be pleased to know that a young Brown Pelican, we named "Hershel," who was found in Buras, Louisiana, several weeks ago, covered in a light sheen of oil, has been successfully rehabilitated and was released back into the wild yesterday: http://www.theneworleansadvocate.com/multimedia/photos/14330158-172/photos-pelican-release You may also have noticed that many of our city and state's waterways and bayous are full of litter and trash. For that reason, our humane society will be forming an official "Clean Team" (maybe called the "Green Team" in the future) and will hold periodic clean up days throughout the year. If you would like to be notified of our upcoming outings, please join Volunteers for the Humane Society of Louisiana at http://www.meetup.com/humanesociety-54/events/227522256/?rv=ea1 Lastly, if you would like to support these and other programs, kindly pay your dues here: https://secure.meetup.com/vegetarian-515/contribute/
