Remembering John Robbins-
John Robbins, life-long advocate for plant-based nutrition, environmentalism, and animal rights passed away last month. His best-selling book, "Diet For a New America", published in 1987, linked heavy consumption of animal products to increased risk of chronic diseases, examined the environmental damage caused by factory farming, and raised ethical concerns about the treatment of animals by the meat industry. It had a huge impact on the way people thought about food.
At the potluck, we will watch a conversation between John Robbins and his son and collaborator, Ocean Robbins, that took place after he became sick with post-polio syndrome. John shares the challenges he is facing and the ideology he developed throughout his life, emphasizing the power of gratitude, acceptance, and courage.
