Thanksgiving Celebration Cruise

The following event is being coordinated with the Vegetarian Society of DC. Please follow the RSVP instructions below. RSVP's cannot be made through the Meetup website.

Celebrate Thanksgiving Day with hundreds of people enjoying a gourmet vegan feast aboard an elegant cruise ship, the Spirit of Mt. Vernon! This year's event will be extra special in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Vegetarian Society of DC (VSDC, the oldest local-based vegetarian society in North America).
Registration and appetizers start at 11:15 am and the cruise starts promptly at noon. Don't miss the boat!
Our guest speaker will be Dr. Michael Greger, an internationally recognized speaker and Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture for The Humane Society of the United States. Dr. Greger will review the past year's top nutrition stories. There will be time for socializing, dancing (a DJ will play Top 40 hits), and great vegan door prizes.
An exciting all vegan menu is being finalized (so changes are possible) including generous portions of:
Appetizers: tomato cucumber salad, and bruschetta with fresh breads
Lunch: tofu turkey with cranberry relish, stuffing with mushroom gravy, penne pasta with marinara sauce, tofu with vegetable stir-fry, and rolls
Vegetables: mesclun field green salad, parisian carrots and green beans, steamed tuscan vegetables, and herb roasted potatoes
Dessert: vegan pumpkin pie, fresh seasonal fruit with berries
Beverages: lemonade, iced tea, hot coffee, tea, and a cash bar with juices and sodas
Reservations are essential; there will be absolutely no walk-in registration. Register early - there are a limited number of spots available on the boat.
The cost including tax and gratuity is $61 for VSDC members and $64 for non-members. Children 5-13 are $45 and 4 and under are free. Highchairs are available upon request.
**All reservations MUST be mailed in with postmark by Friday, November 16. **
To reserve, please send a check made payable to "VSDC" (memo line: VSDC Thanksgiving), mailed to: VSDC TG, PO Box 4921, Washington DC 20008. Please include the number of attendees in your party (spelling out all names) and indicate email address and phone number. If you want to sit at a table for singles or with your family, please mention that with your registration.
