UPDATE: there may be a Saturday-Sunday option. Please contact leader for info.

VWA TRAIL CREW LEADER:

OVERVIEW:

BACKPACKING TRIP

MEET 9 A.M. at the Arroyo Seco Gorge Parking Lot. Drive to the end of Arroyo Seco road from Soledad (if you are coming from the north, or take a shortcut from Greenfield if you are coming from the south). Enter Arroyo Seco. At the entrance kiosk, tell them you are with the VWA. Continue up the road until you reach a chain across the road, then turn right into the Gorge Parking Lot.

HIKE 4 miles from the trailhead at the Horsebridge to camp at the unofficial camp where the Tony Trail leaves the Marble Peak Trail. It is possible we may be able to camp at Willow Springs Camp which is another 0.4 miles. We will work on clearing brush and fallen trees on the Marble Peak Trail. Hopefully getting beyond Willow Springs. If we have time we may also work up the Tony Trail.

WORK on the Marble Peak Trail

This will be a good introduction to backpacking and trailwork. You may be able to arrive late, but you would need to hike the 2.5 miles from the Gorge Parking lot at Arroyo Seco.

THE WORK:

There is work for all abilities. Beginner to expert. Tools and instruction provided for brushing/tread work. The work location has PLENTY of poison oak and there is no way to avoid it. Cotton clothing with long sleeves and long pants can be helpful to avoid poison oak.

MEET: Arroyo Seco Gorge Parking lot. Drive to Arroyo Seco, continue up the road until you cannot go any further. The Gorge Parking lot is on the right.
