It's time for our annual visit to the seal rookery!

Ventura LGBTQ+ Meetup and Queer Hangs are co-hosting a visit to the seal rookery in Carpinteria.

We will meet in the Carpinteria Bluffs Trailhead parking lot just off the 101 at Bailard Avenue in Carpinteria. To get to the parking lot, take the Bailard Avenue exit, turn towards the beach, and head straight into the parking lot.

From here, we will be walking to the bluffs overlooking the seal rookery. This allows us to see the seals and their pups without disturbing them on the beach below.

The dirt path from the parking lot to the bluffs is mostly flat and even. There is one spot where we cross the train tracks and will need to walk on rocks for a few feet. After crossing the tracks, the trail to the rookery is a bit narrower and not quite as well maintained, but it is still a pretty easy walk for most folks.

We encourage folks to do their own research to determine if this trail is a good fit for your mobility and fitness level.

The trail is not wheelchair accessible.

There are no restroom facilities in the parking lot or along the trail.

If you would like to learn more about the rookery or harbor seals before we go, visit CarpinteriaSealWatch.org.

We hope to see you there!
