About us

This group is for people who enjoy getting out with a camera and exploring the beauty and character of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties — and occasionally beyond.
Our interests are broad and open-minded.

Members enjoy photographing landscapes, gardens, nature, architecture, small details, seasonal moments, urban scenes, everyday life — including our coastal areas, along with many inland and unexpected locations throughout the region.

Members also enjoy wildlife photography, including birds and local wildlife such as coyotes, raptors, marine life, and other animals native to our region, always with an emphasis on respectful, ethical observation.

The group welcomes photographers of all experience levels. Some members enjoy group shoots, others prefer sharing ideas, locations, or inspiration, and many enjoy a mix of both.

The emphasis is on curiosity, creativity, and connection rather than technique, gear, or competition. Events may take place on both weekdays and weekends. Many photographers work on weekends, while others prefer weekday outings or quieter locations. Event timing will vary to accommodate different schedules, seasons, and photographic opportunities, including occasional spontaneous or time-sensitive situations.

From time to time, we may also share opportunities slightly farther afield — places where carpooling could be a fun and social option for those interested. Participation in any outing or carpool is always optional and informal.

In addition to in-person activities, we may occasionally host educational Zoom sessions. These might include informal talks, idea sharing, slide reviews, guest speakers, or discussions around locations, themes, or creative approaches — offering ways to connect and learn even when meeting in person isn’t possible.

Members are welcome to submit photos to be featured as the group cover image. We plan to rotate a new member photo monthly, highlighting the variety of subjects, styles, and locations throughout the region. Participation is completely optional — just a fun way to share and showcase local work.
