Paddle boards & Kayaking

Details

We had an amazing time last time, so I think it’s time we try round two of kayaking and paddleboarding! Channel Islands harbor is one of the best with its great chill views and small town beach feel. The address is 3600 harbor blvd Oxnard, CA. You should see kayaks outside the rental office. There is another location on Spinnaker, so don’t mistakenly go to that one.

*Disclaimer: I do not know how to swim and that hasn’t prevented me from kayaking. You board the kayak on dry land and the staff assists you with launching and docking. I only cried for twenty minutes before finally entering the water, and that’s pretty good by my standards. At no point did I ever feel unsafe or in danger of tipping over. Life jackets are also provided. That being said, it is safer if you know how to swim. I won’t stop you from having fun or having a new experience if you don’t know how to swim, but be aware of the dangers.

Dress in swim clothes or in anything you don't mind getting wet. YOU WILL GET WET. Bring a hat, extra layers, ID (for rental), a form of payment, water bottle, water proof bag if you have it, sunscreen and a change of clothes. If you prefer not to wear shoes you can leave them on the dock before getting into the kayak. They DO NOT have storage lockers. We’ll sign forms and listen to the instructors regarding where in the Harbor we have access to and safety or paddling tips. You can bring your own kayak or paddleboard.

These are the prices:
Single kayak $12.50/hr
Double kayak $20/hr
SUP $25/hr
Single kayaks are limited, so some us may have to partner up and use a double kayak. I know, I know. Socialize? Eeww! Gross! Am I right?

If you haven’t tried it before, I promise it’s not scary. The last kayaking event was my first time too and I had a blast. Everyone is very welcoming. We’ll meet by the benches next to the kayak rental office. We’ll wait twenty minutes for anyone running behind and for everyone (mostly me) to mentally and emotionally prepare themselves before getting soaked. Then we’ll check in and set off. I’ll keep everyone updated in the comments. See you all there!
