Reading Mindstorms

Details

In 1980, Seymour Papert published Mindstorms: Children, Computers, and Powerful Ideas, a ground-breaking book which inspired the maker movement, robotics and programming for kids, and many other current ideas in STEM education. However, despite its massive influence, Mindstorms is also widely misunderstood.

If you're passionate about learning and education, you really need to read this book. Papert was so far ahead of his times—we're still barely scratching the surface. Come join a group of curious and thoughtful people as we read, discuss, and digest the powerful ideas in Mindstorms.

The MIT Media Lab, with the permission of Seymour Papert's family, has made Mindstorms freely available for download on its website: http://mindstorms.media.mit.edu (it can also be found on Amazon and other popular bookstores).

In this first meeting, we'll start by getting to know one another, setting goals, and creating a schedule for future meetings. Right now, I'm imagining reading one chapter a month, but I'm open to other ideas. If you'd like to join the group but can't make this first meeting, send me a message or a leave a comment and we'll work something out.
