Kambo
Known traditionally as the “Vaccine of the Jungle,” Kambo is an Amazonian Frog Medicine used in Indigenous traditions for purification, stamina, clearing and preparation. Dr. Courtni Hale, Ph.D. has worked with Kambo for 15 years, following instruction received through an Indigenous lineage.
Kambo is not psychedelic, and it is not a scheduled substance. It works primarily through aligned mind and body.
The secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog contains a complex mixture of bioactive peptides that produce a short, intense physiological experience. Small superficial points are made on the skin and Kambo is applied; the active portion of the experience is typically relatively brief and may include warmth, increased heart rate, sweating, nausea and gentle purging, followed by rest and recovery.
But the reason Dr. Courtni works with Kambo goes beyond the physical experience. We can understand a pattern intellectually and still remain caught inside it.
Trauma, chronic stress, fear and limiting beliefs can become repetitive patterns that influence how we think, react, perform and relate to ourselves and others.
People often describe the period following Kambo as feeling lighter and clearer, with relief from looping thoughts, a quieter mind and greater clarity about their lives.
For this reason, Dr. Courtni also uses Kambo as preparation for deeper personal and ceremonial work—an opportunity to step outside familiar patterns, reconnect with the body and explore what may be consuming energy or blocking access to personal power.
For veterans, executives, professionals and other high performers, the question isn't always “How can I push harder?”Sometimes the more powerful question is:
“What am I ready to stop carrying?”
