Marie Kelly, widely known as the Champagne Cowgirl, is a cornerstone of the local country western dance scene. She’s a line dance instructor and country DJ with a teaching style that’s warm, upbeat, and especially welcoming for beginners. Marie fell in love with country music and line dancing at just 17 years old, starting out at local clubs, then evolving from participant to performer, instructor, and eventually the leader of the high energy dance group The Bootleggers.

Her Champagne Cowgirl brand reflects exactly who she is, bubbly, crowd moving, and impossible not to smile around. She teaches line dances and two stepping in a way that makes everyone feel confident, even if it’s your very first night on the floor. Her impact runs so deep that a line dance titled “Champagne Cowgirl” was choreographed and dedicated to her by friends in the dance community.

All of this comes together every Tuesday night at Swallows Inn, a legendary no frills dive bar directly across from the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano.
