If it is warm enough, we will go back to trimming phrags along the pond periphery, trying to be sure any stalks left are cut down to ground level or below the water level. The water is very high due to all the recent rains, so we may work on solid ground in the north-east section of the pond. I also plan to bring several more Serviceberry (Amelanchier laevis) (very small) to plant, and will need to label some more native plants in the area.
Please wear sturdy work boots, bring work gloves, favorite loppers if you have them, water to drink, maybe safety glasses or facial protection, depending on where we are working. I will have some cane cutters, a few loppers and clippers, a shovel, and rakes. Our continued work this year will contribute to a more supportive environment for the wildlife in the area and be more attractive to the people who visit.
About the photo: I took this pic just before leaving our work party (4/30).
A green frog that I believe is benefiting from our work. It seems to be lying in wait for some food source to show up.
