Witty's Lagoon hike

2 hour 5.9 km hike from parking lot at Witty's Lagoon to Tower Point and return. Moderate terrain.

Witty's Lagoon is an expansive regional park which stretches for 143 acres across land and shore in NE Metchosin. This is a popular area for birding, hiking, and running, but the trails never feel crowded. The trails are generally moderate to easy to hike, and the footing is typical forest hard pack.

The scenic 5.9 km route we'll take meanders through coastal vegetation, including lush forests, rugged shorelines, and of course, the tidal lagoon. You'll get some great views of the lagoon and the Pacific Ocean, especially when we dart over to Tower Point.

Sturdy footwear is recommended as the trail can sometimes be dry and rough, and/or muddy and wet.

Top sights on this walk include Sitting Lady Falls, shorebirds fishing in the shallow lagoon, the stunning Olympic Mountain range in the distance, and if we're lucky, the marine life that can often be spotted from Tower Point.
