The Centennial Trails Loop is a 16.2 km trail system that loops around a large part of Saanich. If you want to see the whole loop, go here ...

On Saturday Nov 1st, the Victoria Small Dog Walk and Play Group will be walking a beautiful 2.6 km section of the Centennial Trail. It's an out-and-back route, so our total distance will be 5.25 km. I estimate it will take us about 75 minutes at an average pace to complete the walk. If you want to attend, but only do part of the route, that's fine too.

Starting at Tri-Eagle Plaza, just south of Royal Oak Shopping Centre, we'll venture out on the Royal Oak Trail. This paved section of the Centennial Trail is easy walking for members of all abilities. Just past Brydon Park, we'll take a left turn and head south on the Colquitz River Trail, which is a gravel trail. This wide trail meanders South/Southwest adjacent to the Colquitz River, winding its way through the Royal Oak and Carey neighborhoods, passing through Copley Park, and eventually leading us to the very edge of Panama Flats. At Roy Road, we'll turn around and head back the way we came. Many Victorians don't even know this trail exists, which is a shame because it's a lovely walk and it's pretty easy walking.

There are a couple of road crossings along the way, so by all means control your dog as appropriate.

There's plenty of parking at Tri-Eagle Plaza, 4392 West Saanich Road. It is just off West Saanich Road, just south of Royal Oak Shopping Centre.

There are maps and street level pictures of our meeting place on Meetup.
