Government House Luncheon & Craigdarroch Castle Visitation
Government House - on Rockland Ave, 1401 Rockland Ave, Victoria, BC, CAOff we go! Meet for lunch at Government House's Rudy's tea room at 12 pm "
The ghost of Government House in Victoria is a mysterious female spirit often seen or heard wandering the thrid floor, sometimes desribed as wearing an elegant ball gownStaff and visitors, including former operations directors, have reported unexplained footsteps and sudden feelings of intense fear in the halls when no one else is in the building.
Located at 1401 Rockland Ave, the current estate is actually the third iteration of the building. The original mansion and the second iteration were tragically destroyed by fires, which adds an eerie layer to the property's rich history. While the spirit's exact identity remains unconfirmed, she is frequently referred to as the estate's resident ghost during local public event.
Are you coming along with us on Friday, July 31st for lunch at Government House. Check the Meet Up group for details.https://ltgov.bc.ca/tea-room/lroom ( lunch is about $20) Rudi’s Tea Room is a casual garden café, serving lunch, sweets, and refreshments, with products sourced as close by as the Government House vegetable gardens, fruit trees and beehives. Named for Rudolph (Rudi) Hoenson, a philanthropist and longtime supporter of Government House, you can find Rudi’s Tea Room in the historic setting of Butterworth Cottage in the Cary Castle Mews.
Now off to the haunted Craigdarroch Castle. https://thecastle.ca/

The documentation of spirit activity in the Castle is substantial. Bring your Ghost Tube (free download!) or pay for Spirit Talker, a tape recorder, camera and any EMF detectors to collect and validate your feelings. You may meet Joan Dunsmuir, a maid who killed herself, a child ghost often seen in the basement or Effie, the mentally illdaughter. Her story is one of the sadder Dunsmuir stories. https://www.facebook.com/groups/goldtrailsandghosttowns/posts/10160711435737044/
Here's another investigator's astute review of the ghosts of Craigdarroch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1o5va9rutM
The Castle is a good place to gather good evidence and the staff welcome ghost gatherers warmly. I took the Ghost Tube Seer (check it out!) and received a download of relevant images including a lady in white on the staircase where Joan Dunsmuir is purported to linger. Also an old scooner tossed in a rough sea and a riderless horse racing away like Effie could have fallen from when she became paralysed. Interesting. Apps make it more fun so download one or two. See you in the realm!8 attendees
