Map & Make: Inclusive Cities Jam

Details

Small city, big empathy.

Join the Victoria Impact Design Collective for Map & Make, a hands-on design jam where we reimagine cities through curiosity and creativity.
In this session, you’ll work in teams to build 3D map prototypes while exploring how to design with those who are often left out of traditional planning processes. Whether you work in government, community services, or just design-curious, this jam is a chance to stretch your thinking and center equity in public systems.

đź’ˇ No experience necessary. Just bring your ideas, an open mind, and a willingness to make a (tiny) mess.
You’ll learn:

  • How to apply design thinking through experiential play
  • How empathy can shape more inclusive systems and spaces
  • How to prototype quickly using everyday craft materials

Perfect for:

  • Connecting with local design thinkers
  • Public servants, policy designers, and civic innovators
  • Nonprofit and community leaders
  • Urban planners, service designers, and researchers
  • Students, artists, and anyone working to make cities more human-centered

Come map the city you’d want to live in! With and for everyone.
