Mayne Island Hikes (Approximately 15 kms.)

Please join us for a fabulous day of hiking on Mayne Island. Our good friend Bernard lives on the island and will be leading these extraordinary hikes for us. The terrain and pace will be moderate and about 15 kms in length. This will not be a slow or easy paced hike.

The ferry leaves Swartz Bay at 935 am and arrives on Mayne Island at 1055 am. The ferry departs from Mayne Island at 615pm and arrives 705pm.
The hike may be cancelled in the event of bad weather.

Car pooling details can be further organized in the event group chat or on the main event page. For those carpooling, meet at Saanich Municipal Hall Lower Parking Lot at the end of Darwin Ave at 8am. Please be on time. For those going ahead, we will meet you on Mayne Island at the ferry terminal upon the group's arrival.

Please make sure you are committed to attending this hike if you sign up. In the event that something changes, please do your best to cancel your RSVP a few days in advance to allow for other to make plans to participate.

Hike and lunch details: (Note: all timings are approximate and routes are subject to change. Where Bernard leads, we will follow and it will all be lovely - so no worries.)

• Mt Parke hike: Approx: 11:15am to 1:15pm
• Bennet Bay Bistro: Approx: 1:30pm - 3pm(ish). See link to menu here: Bennett Bay Bistro | Mayne Island
• Edith Point Hike approx: 315pm - 5:15pm (including 15 minute break at the Point)
• 5:15pm drive back to catch the 6:15pm ferry.
• Please note that if we have time between the end of the second hike and catching the ferry, we will take a slight detour to take a walk through the Japanese Garden.

What to bring: Sturdy hiking footwear, poles, extra clothing layers, raincoat, gloves, hat\toque, water, snacks, and a personal first aid kit as needed.
