What we’re about
Wellness is "the state of being in good health" and I believe in order to be in good health, one has to have a balance of mind, body, and spirit. This group is for anyone who is pursuing more wellness, balance, fulfillment, and happiness in their life. If you enjoy a variety of activities/interests and meeting new people along for the fun, join us! Group gatherings will vary and will provide affordable options within the greater DC area. All skill/interest levels are welcome.

Greetings everyone! After a long hiatus away from MeetUp, and social media in general, I am ready to take the plunge and start being more "public" again. I had to step away for an extended period of time in order to be a caretaker, and then I needed to care for myself! After personal injury, illness, and obligations, I finally feel healthy and I'm eager to reconnect with others, doing the things that bring me joy. Furthermore, I am in a good place with space and time so that I can also comfortably manage all of the behind-the-scenes work that goes with being a teacher/instructor, community organizer, and social coordinator.
Perhaps you have taken a leave of absence from work or social networks, at one point or another, and can relate? If so, bless you! It can be incredibly difficult to acclimate back into a healthy and fulfilling work-life balance, and so, here we are... trying to do just that. If this message finds you and something about this group resonates with you, then please feel free to RSVP to an event, reach out to me directly, and/or share this group with someone else in the DC area that could benefit from our gatherings.
Let's gain new skills (or build upon current ones) together. And let's make new friends while enhancing our individual personal growth. It can all be rewarding, fun, and meaningful, and why not actually enjoy the city we live in? I look forward to, hopefully, seeing you or hearing from you soon. Cheers!

See all- Weekly Adult Ballet Lesson (Beginner/Level I)Rhythm & Arts Center of Virginia, Sterling, VA$20.00
Beautiful and timeless, ballet has existed for hundreds of years. Many dancers today consider it to be the foundation for all other dance techniques. Whether you are rediscovering your inner child, maintaining (low impact) flexibility, strength, and balance, or if you're simply enjoying graceful movements to music, there's a place for you here.
Class is relaxed and inclusive of ALL dancers. Real people with real bodies. Work at your own level while improving your technique and enjoying a good workout... both mentally and physically. Dancers will follow a traditional progression in each class (barre, center work, across the floor, learning combinations, reverence). As we go along, we'll discuss the history of ballet, its French vocabulary, and current productions. We will have the opportunity to perform on stage (not required), and we will also discuss possible group outings to local performances.
No experience necessary, and if you don't own a pair of ballet shoes you may attend class with socks or bare feet until you're able to find a pair of shoes that you're happy with. Comfortable (not too baggy) athletic wear is recommended. This Monday night adult ballet class takes place weekly at the Rhythm & Arts Center of Virginia (RAC) dance studio in Sterling, VA. Please contact Mary Shelton, RAC Owner, regarding registration and payment: Rhythm and Arts Center of Virginia. There is no need to RSVP each week via MeetUp.
***Miss Maggie also teaches movement classes in Spanish, and for the special needs community (in English). If you see this class/event listing but have an interest in a different, unlisted class, please reach out to Maggie and/or share this listing with someone else who may be interested in one of those other classes. We can work together to make those other classes on-going, available, and publicly listed. :)
