You know all about Oculus Rift, Vive, Morpheus and Virtual Reality (VR) and hopefully religiously attend the Austin VR Meetup... and you have heard about Microsoft's Hololens... but what about Augmented Reality (AR)? It has been around a while now and is used in thousands of applications on all mobile devices out there. One of the leaders in this space is Qualcomm's Vuforia. Game makers have made thousands of AR games and apps which have been on all the app stores for several years now.
Finn Staber, one of Video Game Makers Unite!'s founders, will walk us through all of it. We will dive into the Qualcomm Vuforia developer portal, and watch how easy it is to set up a simple Unity scene to track markers in Augmented Reality! We will be covering Vuforia 4.0 with SmartTerrain, and a quick introduction to Unity development for mobile devices & Smartglasses. We will have a pair of Epson Moverio Smartglasses to demo before/after the event, as well!
